Punta Tombo - Penguins in Argentina

Penguins Punta Tombo Argentina
If you like wildlife and happens to be  in Argentina take a 2 hours flight down to Trelew from Buenos Aires. About 100 km south of Trelew you find Punta Tombo were about 500.000 penguins come back from the Atlantic to give birth. First the males come to prepare the nests in early November and 2 weeks later the females come to the shores.
The females listen to the sounds given by the males so they can find the nest and their partner. The eggs and baby penguins are taken care of by both parents and they take turns to go down to the ocean to find food for their baby. They stay here until late April when they leave the nest and spend 6 months in the Atlantic again.

Most tourists stay in Puerto Madryn 50 km north of Trelew and take tours here over the day. There are plenty of local agencies downtown that arrange daytrips.
