Perito Moreno Glacier, Argentina

The spectacular Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina is a must on a trip to Patagonia. The glacier is over 5 km wide, has a total depth of 170 meters and an average of 74 meters above sea level. The glacier is one of the few growing glaciers in the world. Is partly in Chile and partly in Argentina. The glaciers ends in the big lake of Lago Argentina.
This area that is the 3rd biggest glacier area in the world is most easily reached by flight to El Calafate or long distance busses. You can visit the glacier in a few different ways. There is a boat tour that takes you up close to the ice, there is a walkway for an overview but I prefer the trekking tours that are available were you can actually walk on the ice. There is a short 2 hour tour and a longer for 5 hours. They have all the equipment that you need!
Enjoy Patagonia that is best in November when the flowers are blooming!
