Sunset on the Ipanena Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil

Ipanema Beach
I think that the best place to watch the sunset in Rio de Janeiro is at the beach. Either you stay on the rocks at Aproador Beach or you enjoy the beach of Ipanema as the sun goes down. At this time of the day people are relaxed, the party has started for some, people pack their things after a full day at the beach ready to go home and the locals come after work to do some volleyball or racketball. It's great to just take a walk on the beach, have a swim or simply sit down at one of the posto bars to have something to drink. As you can see the waves can get quite big, so be careful in the water!

A Sunday in Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro
If you are lucky to be in Rio de Janeiro on a Sunday the place to be is on or by the beach. The roads by the famous beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema during the weekdays are full of cars. But on Sunday the cars are not allowed to drive there and then it is the time for the people of the city to use the roads to other things. Just take a long walk,  do some jogging, use your longboard or rollerblades, walk your dog or work out at one of the many gyms by the beach. This is the way to feel like a real carioca (people of Rio)!

Lapa District, Rio de Janeiro

Nightlife in Lapa, Rio de Janeiro
If you want to have an evening in Rio de Janeiro like the Cariocas of Rio you have to head down to Lapa District. Lapa is filled with people in the evening with easygoing people that have a beer (chop) under the arches, have dinner at some of the cool restaurants or simply dance the night away with samba at a club or at the gas station! Have fun and take a taxi back home! Don't walk outside this area at night! As long as there are people you are safe!
